A Rose Is A Rose Is A Rose

I'm on a quest. A quest to learn how to do these stupid icing roses. So far? The quest is not going well. Please view the destruction:

My first 'rose':

And it really didn't get much better than that.


See? It grew petals, but didn't really form into much of a flower.

After about 20 minutes, I gave up. I'll try again another day. Anyone got any tips? Besides 'don't ever try that again'?

darling, your frosting looks way too soft! try making a stiffer frosting!

I just took a frosting class and I would agree, the iceing looks WAY too soft. I saw your second attempt, i think i am going to go look at those again, do you have just the basic buttercream iceing recipe? I just love looking though your pictures, you are so creative.
